Plans, Teams & Billing
What Free, Basic and Pro include, how a team and its plan work, how to upgrade, downgrade or cancel, and what happens to everything you have made when you do.
Everyone, Free included, has unlimited Vellums, unlimited publishing and unlimited Graphs and Designs. The plans differ in the rest:

Everything happens on the Plan page or in Settings → Billing, and only when you are signed in to Viewert: an API key, the CLI or a connected AI app cannot change a subscription.
Upgrade
Choose a plan on the Pricing page. From Free you pay on Stripe's page. From Basic to Pro the subscription you have is changed in place, and the difference for the rest of the billing period is charged to your card. The new limits apply at once.
Downgrade
Cancel in Settings → Billing → Cancel subscription. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, then you are on Free. To go from Pro to Basic, cancel, and subscribe to Basic once Pro has ended.
Change your mind
While a cancellation is waiting for its date, Settings → Billing shows Keep my subscription.
A team (an organization) is a shared home for people, graphs and products. Anyone signed in can create one for free: you can own up to 3 (5 with a personal Pro plan). Anyone can join one, on any plan, by accepting an email invitation. A team has these roles:
Owner
Everything an admin can do, plus billing and the plan, single sign-on, the team's domains and settings, changing roles and inviting admins, handing the team over or deleting it. Billing is the owner's alone.
Admin
Invites and removes members and guests, approves people who ask to join, and can manage every graph in the team. An admin cannot open billing: when the team needs a bigger plan they ask the owner.
Member
Creates and edits the team's graphs, and manages the ones they made.
Guest
Can view what the team shares, and nothing more. Guests are free.
A team starts Free and the team itself is what you upgrade. A seat is used by the owner, each admin and each member, and by an invitation nobody has accepted yet. Guests never use one.

Only the team's owner can do these, from the team's Settings → Billing tab (you must be signed in to Viewert, not using an API key or the CLI).
Free to Org Pro or Org Enterprise
Choose the plan (and, for Org Pro, how many seats: never fewer than the people already in the team). You confirm on Stripe's page and nothing is charged before that.
More or fewer seats
Manage billing in Stripe changes the number of seats. If a team has more people than seats, nobody is removed, but nobody new can join until it is back within them.
Org Pro to Org Enterprise
One click in Billing: the subscription you have is switched, the unused part of the month is credited, and single sign-on is available at once.
Org Enterprise to Org Pro
Cancel in Stripe from Billing. When it ends, the team is on Free, and you can choose Org Pro on the same page.
Short answers:
Does my Pro plan cover my team?
No. A team has its own plan and its own bill. What your Pro plan changes is how many teams you can own.
Do my team's graphs count against my own?
No. A team's graphs count against the team's plan, and they stay with the team if you leave. Your own graphs have no limit on any plan.
I am an admin and the team is full. What now?
Ask the owner: only they can open billing. You can still delete a graph the team no longer needs.
Can the CLI or an AI assistant use a team's graphs?
Not a team's: a connected app works with your own graphs. Open the graph in Viewert to work on it, or move it to the team there.
